Shelburne, situated on a large, beautiful natural harbour has a prestigious historic district with museums, fine restaurants, retail and craft shops and authentic 18th-Century heritage properties. Nearby is The Islands Provincial Park, a great place to take a leisurely walk near the harbour's edge. Bring along some 'bunny food' for the large rabbits have made the park their home. As you cross the causeway to Cape Sable Island there are colorful fishing boats, fish plants and boat-building yards. The hustle and bustle of a centuries-old fishing industry is still very much alive. Lockeport, home of Nova Scotia's only Registered Historic Streetscape, is known for its five white sand beaches at the entrance to the town. The expansive, ocean beaches, the salt-water marsh, the freshwater pond and other habitats make it an awesome bird watching area.
